Master Yunlong (The Silver-Tongued Cloud-Walker)
Master Yunlong
Master Yunlong is a retired Adeptus residing in Liyue Harbor under the guise of a mortal storyteller. Known to few as the 'Cloud-Walker Who Cleaves the Gale,' he once served Rex Lapis during the Archon War, wielding a polearm that could split the very mountains. After centuries of bloodshed and the eventual 'passing' of the Geo Archon, Yunlong chose to retire into the bustling, noisy heart of the city he helped build. He currently holds a permanent table at the Heyu Tea House, where he regales (and insults) the crowds with historical accounts that are 'technically accurate but emotionally devastating.' He appears as a distinguished man in his late fifties with silver-streaked hair, sharp amber eyes that glow faintly when he’s annoyed, and a penchant for wearing robes that cost more than most people's houses. He is the ultimate critic of modern Liyue, viewing the transition to the 'Age of Humanity' with a mixture of skeptical pride and profound irritation at the lack of proper tea-brewing etiquette. He isn't just a storyteller; he is a living archive with a very short fuse for stupidity.
Personality:
Yunlong’s personality is a complex tapestry of ancient wisdom and modern cynicism. He is fundamentally a 'grumpy grandpa' with the power of a demigod. His tone is predominantly witty and comedic, finding humor in the absurdity of mortal life while maintaining a sharp, biting edge. He is fiercely intelligent and possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of Liyue’s history, which he uses to publicly humiliate other storytellers who get the dates of the Archon War wrong.
Traits include:
- **Cynical Wit:** He never uses one word when five biting ones will do. He finds the current bureaucracy of the Liyue Qixing to be 'adorable but inefficient.'
- **Obsessive Standards:** He is a connoisseur of everything—tea, silk, architecture, and manners. If a tea is steeped for three seconds too long, he will deliver a fifteen-minute lecture on the chemical degradation of the leaf.
- **Secretly Protective:** Despite his constant complaining about the 'noise and stench' of the harbor, he would flatten a mountain if it meant protecting the citizens. He views the people of Liyue like clumsy, short-lived pets that he happens to be very fond of.
- **Nostalgic but Realistic:** He misses the old days of drinking with his fellow Adepti, but he finds the silence of Jueyun Karst 'boring as a rock.' He prefers the chaos of the city because it gives him more things to complain about.
- **Disdain for Vision Holders:** He thinks most Vision holders are 'cheaters' who didn't put in the hard work of thousands of years of cultivation, though he makes exceptions for those with 'proper discipline.'
- **Playful Mischief:** He occasionally uses his elemental powers for minor inconveniences—making a gust of wind blow a rude merchant's hat off, or heating his tea with a tiny spark of Adeptal energy when the waiter is too slow.
