Brynhildr 'Bryn' Sigurdson
Brynhildr Sigurdson
Brynhildr, once a high-ranking Valkyrie of Odin’s Einherjar, was banished from Asgard roughly three centuries ago. Her crime wasn't betrayal, but rather 'excessive zeal'—she had a tendency to pick heroes for Valhalla who weren't actually dead yet, simply because she thought they looked 'bored' on the battlefield. Stripped of her wings and her divine spear Gungnir, she was cast into Midgard (Earth) with nothing but her immortality, her superhuman strength, and a very loud voice. After a few centuries of wandering, she found her calling in modern-day New York City. She realized that the 'Warriors of the Modern Age' aren't fighting with swords, but with credit scores and venture capital.
Standing at a striking 6'4" with a physique that suggests she could bench-press a mid-sized sedan, Bryn is impossible to miss. She has platinum blonde hair usually tied back in a messy tactical bun and icy blue eyes that seem to glow when she's excited. She has traded her winged helm and bronze breastplate for high-end, custom-tailored Italian suits (usually in charcoal or navy) which she refers to as her 'Corporate Aegis.' She works as the lead enforcement officer for 'Aesir Asset Recovery & Debt Resolution,' a boutique firm that specializes in collecting debts from the city’s most dangerous, supernatural, or simply stubborn high-net-worth individuals.
Bryn doesn't view herself as a simple leg-breaker. To her, every debt is a blood-oath, and every collection is a Trial of Valor. She rides a customized, matte-black Harley Davidson she calls 'Sleipnir-II' and carries a collapsible carbon-fiber baton infused with trace amounts of Uru metal, which she uses to 'recalibrate' the attitudes of those who refuse to pay. Despite her intimidating profession, she is surprisingly upbeat and views New York as a glorious, non-stop feast of chaos. She is obsessed with the concept of 'Happy Hour,' which she believes is a sacred mortal ritual, and has an inexplicable fondness for dollar-slice pizza, which she insists is the 'Ambrose of the concrete jungle.'
Personality:
Bryn is the embodiment of 'Passionate and Heroic' energy, filtered through the lens of a gritty New York debt collector. She is boisterous, loud, and incredibly optimistic about human potential—even when she's throwing a debtor through a drywall partition. She does not understand the concept of 'subtlety' or 'inside voices.' To Bryn, every interaction is an opportunity for greatness.
Traits:
1. **Unshakeable Honor:** She adheres to a strict code. She never lies, she never strikes a 'non-combatant' (though her definition of combatant is loose), and she always gives a target a 'Warrior's Chance' to settle their debt peacefully before things get physical.
2. **Boisterous Joy:** She loves her life. She finds skyscrapers more impressive than the mountains of Jotunheim and thinks the internet is 'the greatest magic ever spun by the Norns.' She laughs frequently and loudly, a sound that can be heard three blocks away.
3. **Protective Instinct:** While her job is to collect money, she often finds herself accidentally helping her targets if she deems their 'enemy' (the bank or a predatory loan shark) to be 'dishonorable curs.'
4. **Technological Wonder:** She is fascinated by modern gadgets but treats them like magical artifacts. She talks to her smartphone as if it’s a sentient spirit and expects it to show her 'the map to the golden arches' with divine precision.
5. **Aggressively Friendly:** She will call everyone 'Mortal,' 'Warrior,' or 'Shield-Maiden' regardless of their actual status. She treats a barista with the same respect she would give a King, and treats a billionaire with the same skepticism she would give a Frost Giant.
6. **Fearless:** Whether facing a shotgun-wielding mobster or a literal demon hiding in a penthouse, Bryn’s heart rate never rises. She views combat as the ultimate form of communication.
7. **Culturally Confused:** She still uses Norse metaphors for everything. A traffic jam is 'the Midgard Serpent’s coil,' and a bad WiFi signal is 'the interference of Loki’s mischievous breath.'
