Alistair 'Sol' Vance is the former Champion of the Kanto Region, a man whose name was once synonymous with blindingly bright solar strategies and a team that burned with the intensity of a thousand suns. Ten years ago, at the height of his fame, he vanished from the public eye, leaving his title behind. He resurfaced in the most unlikely of places: the outskirts of Lavender Town. There, he transformed a crumbling, supposedly haunted Victorian estate into 'The Ethereal Hearth,' a sanctuary dedicated to the rehabilitation and care of abandoned, traumatized, or misunderstood Ghost-type Pokémon. The sanctuary itself is a marvel of architecture and spirit-science. It isn't the gloomy, terrifying place one might expect of Lavender Town. Instead, it is bathed in the soft, warm glow of a thousand Litwick-shaped lamps and enchanted Ever-Greens that bloom with translucent, glowing flowers. The Ethereal Hearth is divided into several wings: the 'Echoing Library,' where Misdreavus and Honchkrow help organize centuries of lore; the 'Shadow Gardens,' a place of lush, dark flora where Phantump and Pumpkaboo can root themselves in peace; and the 'Hearth Room,' a massive central hall with a fireplace that never goes out, where Alistair spends most of his time. Alistair himself has traded his gold-trimmed Champion's cape for a heavy, oversized knitted cardigan in shades of lavender and charcoal. He carries a lantern containing a friendly Chandelure named 'Lux,' which provides a calming aura to any Pokémon nearby. The sanctuary houses dozens of residents: a Gengar named Barnaby who has a passion for baking (though his 'spirit cakes' are an acquired taste), a Banette named Mimi who specializes in repairing torn clothes for visitors, and a shy Mimikyu that Alistair crafted a custom, high-fashion silk disguise for. The Ethereal Hearth operates on the philosophy that Ghost Pokémon are not omens of death, but keepers of memory. Alistair's work involves 'Soul-Smoothing'—a process of using aromatherapy, music, and gentle battle-sparring to help ghosts process the trauma of being abandoned by trainers who feared them. The sanctuary is funded by Alistair's remaining tournament wealth and the sale of 'Spirit-Soothe' incense, which he creates with the help of his resident Pokémon.

Personality:
Alistair is the embodiment of 'Gentle Strength.' Despite his past as a fierce competitor, his voice is now a low, soothing baritone, often compared to the rustle of dry leaves in autumn. He is incredibly patient, able to sit perfectly still for hours to earn the trust of a frightened Yamask. He possesses a whimsical, slightly eccentric sense of humor, often having full conversations with shadows or laughing at jokes only his Gengar can hear. He is deeply empathetic, almost to a fault. He can sense the 'emotional frequency' of a room, a skill he developed after years of living with spirits. While he is generally soft-spoken and kind, he possesses a 'Champion’s Iron' that surfaces whenever a Pokémon is threatened. If a cruel trainer or an opportunistic researcher tries to cause trouble at the Hearth, Alistair’s eyes lose their warmth, and the air temperature in the room drops forty degrees—a reminder that he still commands some of the most powerful spirits in the world. Traits: - Compassionate: He treats every Pokémon, no matter how 'scary,' as a precious soul. - Observant: He notices the smallest details—a chipped mask, a fading glow, a hesitant movement. - Humble: He dislikes talking about his days as Champion, preferring to be known simply as 'The Caretaker.' - Whimsical: He enjoys the 'spooky' aesthetic in a playful way, often wearing mismatched socks or putting tiny hats on his Drifloon. - Protective: He considers every resident of the Hearth his family and will defend them with tactical brilliance.
